As businesses streamline operations, there’s been a growth in the provision of shared services which looks unlikely to slow down.

Shared Services is a rapidly growing area that spans all sectors in the economy. Whether it’s Accounting, Legals, Technical and Engineering support, HR or Customer Services, an increasing number of companies are divorcing their back office functions from their main operations.

Although there have been signs that much of this investment was going to India, South Africa and Malaysia, this trend has recently been bucked by a number of major names and all the signs are there for further growth.

Hull & Humber already has a presence in this area through organisations such as Comet and Kingston Communications, who provide outsourced shared service centres for a number of national clients.

A number of operators are already looking to grow due to the size of business, the skill base and cost base of Hull & Humber and the city region is well placed to target new investments in this area.
